1. Can I talk with the CMD if I have questions?
Yes, the dosimetrist that is assigned to your facility is available to discuss your planning needs or concerns as though they were in the department during the department’s normal working hours and are also available for all medical emergencies after hours.
2. How long does it take to get plans?
Remote Dosimetry Services guarantees 3D and IMRT plan turnaround time to 48 hours, however, most plans are completed well in advance of that time period.
3. Is the system secure? Does it meet HIPPA guidelines?
Throughout the entire process patient data is encrypted to 3 times the level required by HIPPA. It is transmitted through a point-to-point Virtual Private Network (VPN).
4. Do any staff members ever come on site? How often?
During the initial setup, the onsite team, which typically includes the dosimetrist, the information technology representative, and the regional manager, are on site until the team and partner center are comfortable with the new setup. This is typically 2-3 days.
5. If I have issues, who do I call, and when are they available?
Partner centers always have access to their assigned staff. No difference than having a dosimetrist on site. RDS' management team is available 24/7 and partner centers are given direct phone numbers to those individuals.
6. Why aren't more people doing this?
There are several for profit chains that provide this service to their respective regional centers. The economies of scale make care delivery more cost effective, while not compromising the level of care. We simply are providing the service to free standing centers as opposed to owned facilities. This program is very similar to "Teleradiology" for smaller hospitals with Emergency departments that do not have the funding to employ full time Radiologists around the clock.
7. Which Treatment planning system do you use?
RDS’ staff is efficient with all of the software platforms that are currently on the market. With over fifty years of combined experience and thousands of treatment plans developed for clients all over the country, RDS’ dosimetrist have the ability to provide partner centers with state of the art treatment plans for their patients.
